How to Spot Clean Stains from Upholstery

OOOPS! Spill Happened, Now What?

So here you are having an amazing time, then boom!

Your brand new sofa is covered with wine. Your heart starts racing, you feel light headed and you're a second away from passing out. Wait a minute. There's no time to pass out or have a fit. Act fast and act now!

Immediately after stain or spills occur, you'll need to treat it swiftly. This will prevent the liquid from soaking into the fibers of the material and the inserts of the cushions. It is recommended that you own a pre-treatment stain remover for accidents like these, however we don't always have stain removers so here is a safe back up plan that can help you to restore your products and save you from getting a replacement.

Spot Cleaning Tips

Tip#1

Check the manufacturer labels/tags to see the care instruction- If you don't know what to look for, you can refer to my previous blog on "How to locate Care Guidelines for your Sofas".

Tip#2

Do not rub the area, instead pat it with a soft cloth or paper towel in order to remove any excess liquid.

Tip#3

Once enough of the liquid is removed from the fabric, then use your pre-treatment stain remover. If you don't have the stain remover, then you can use the bubbles from dishwashing liquid and water.

Tip#4

Using the bubbles only, dab the area in order to remove the stain. You can then allow it to air dry or you can also use a blow dryer to speed up the process.

Remember that your Sofas should be deep cleaned at least twice per year. You can rest assured that Dkelz Equipment Rental will provide you with machines to give your products a professional clean.

PS Not all sofas can be treated using water. Viscose material is more delicate and requires the use of special solvents or a specialist to intervene. ALWAYS refer to your cleaning Labels.
